Your recovery from breast augmentation should last about one week. During your recovery, your breasts will be wrapped in gauze dressings and an elastic bandage or support bra to minimize swelling and support the breasts as they heal. After the surgery, you will be taken into a recovery area for close monitoring. You may be permitted to go home when you are stable for discharge, which is typically after an hour or so.
You will be given specific post-operative instructions for your recovery and a follow-up appointment with Dr. Espinoza. You may also receive medications or a prescription, but many plastic surgeons prescribe postoperative medications in advance. Your prescribed medications may include pain pills and an antibiotic to prevent infection.
Will there be scars?
Incision placement depends on the size and type of implants chosen, your physical contours, and other factors. Incisions are made very precisely by Dr. Espinoza to ensure that the scars are as minimal as possible.
Scars will be in the following possible areas:
- A line under the natural crease of the breasts
- In the natural folds of the skin in the belly button or armpits
- Around the areola
