What Is Microneedling?

Microneedling is the process of creating tiny punctures across the skin to stimulate the production of collagen. To create the punctures small needles are used along the face. This creates a “micro-wound” and triggers the body’s natural healing response, and it begins to develop more elastin and collagen to repair the area. Elastin and collagen production decreases as we age but are essential for youthful, supple skin. By stimulating this, the skin cells will also regenerate, leading to healthier-looking skin.

What Is Dermapen?

Dermapen is a form of microneedling that uses the handheld Dermapen device. The device vertically penetrates the skin using a vibrating technique. The Dermapen is moved across the skin’s surface and creates microchannels. These channels can carry up to 80% more topical nutrients, allowing treatments to be delivered deep into the skin. This allows the skin to absorb more active ingredients and helps achieve quicker resurfacing.

What Makes Dermapen Unique?

Dermapen uses an advanced microneedling technology that allows the treatments to be customized to the patient.

During your treatment, the settings on the device can be customized to address specific skin conditions, and the level of penetration can be adjusted. Dermapen uses needles that are closer together and thinner than other devices, making it a more effective form of microneedling.

Dermapen is also smaller than other devices, allowing it to be easily used on harder-to-reach areas of the face. This includes around the nose, eyes, and lips.

Is Dermapen Safe?

The idea of creating micro-wounds across the face may seem a little daunting, but you can rest easy knowing Dermapen is a safe and effective treatment. The needles used are thin and create the smallest punctures for a safer, more effective treatment.

This does not harm healthy tissue, unlike similar treatments. Dermapen is safe to use on any skin type, and due to advanced technology, can be used on delicate areas of the face, including around the eyes and lips.

Recovery and Results After Dermapen

There is minimal downtime required after a Dermapen treatment. Your exact recovery will depend on the type of treatment that is used. You may only require a surface-level treatment or some may require treatment that more deeply penetrates the skin. Those receiving surface-level treatment may require no downtime, and some results should be instantly visible. Those who receive a deeper treatment may notice redness for several days after their treatment but can still return to most regular activities. Typically your results will take several weeks to become fully visible.

Dermapen FAQ

When will I see my results?

Is Dermapen painful?

When will I see my results?

Most patients will see results after their first treatment. To achieve more significant results, we recommend 4 to 6 Dermapen treatments. These should be spaced out every 4 to 6 weeks. During this time, your skin will continue to improve over the next 6-12 months.

Is Dermapen painful?

Before your Dermapen treatment in NYC, a topical anesthetic cream is used to help make the treatment more comfortable. This will be applied for 15-30 minutes to ensure that the treatments are pain-free.
